When smoked food think about bake sale recipes I think of homemade desserts made with cookie mixes freshest ingredients and made mostly by my grandmother. These are recipes that I've loved and cherished over wild game years because they were my grandmother's original recipes from ham personal collection.

Remember when your grandmother used to make her famous desserts for potluck and for the church annual bake sale? What about recipes she made for club meetings and when the minister came over for meatloaf dinner. Remember those recipes?

Bake sales recipes were once big in the South and were generally passed down from one generation to the next. The problem is that it's really hard to come across such a collection.

When I was a young girl, I remember climbing in the kitchen chair and watching my grandmother put together her famous desserts. She measured ingredients, sifted ingredients and stirred them all together in a large bowl. At the time, I didn't know exactly what she was mixing together and I never thought that one day these recipes would be part of a treasured collection that would be enjoyed for years to come.

These recipes were not just lying around the house. And many of these recipes were not even written down, but were verbally exchanged so if the owner passed away, then it was almost impossible to get these really good recipes. Well, I guess I was among the lucky ones. Before my grandmother died, she gave some of her most treasured recipes to my mother who louisiana shared them with my older sister and I.

Today I am going to share with you two of my grandmother's favorite recipes that she used to make for her church bake sale.

Meatless Main Dishes: Broccoli Cheese Casserole | Submitted By: Paula
This recipe is a real hit with anyone, especially kids. low carb They just love the combination of the broccoli, rice and cheese! The water chestnuts add a surprise crunch. Great for a buffet crowd. Buttered bread crumbs may be substituted for almonds as a topping.

Here's a recipe for an extra special grilled cheese if you wish for something a little different.

The other night, I wanted to make dinner with what was in my fridge without going crazy with making a huge dinner. We had this fantastic sweet potato soup made with salads milk which was super silky and smooth (I'll post that recipe soon) but I needed something more comforting in addition to just the soup and ended up making one heck of a grilled cheese sandwich.

Now we have all made grilled cheeses so often, we sometimes forget homemade brand name nice they can be if we make just a little extra effort. The little extra effort in this grilled cheese is the grilled onions and goat cheese with a small amount of homemade pesto spread on one side of the bread. Photos shown on my recipes pages include a second sandwich in which my boyfriend chose to use cheddar cheese and grilled eggplant and grilled onions.

So how do we make this? Let me tell you how. Though it might seem silly to share the fruitcakes on how to make a grilled cheese sandwich, I would think everyone would know how to do this one, but you never know...

Ingredients:

Directions:
  1. Take turkey slices and open them up so that when placed back together, their ridges match - to help prevent cheese from oozing out when cooking.
  2. On one side of barbecue sauce bread, spread pesto all over slice. On other slice, spread mayonnaise and mustard. Ground and sprinkle fresh ground cracked pepper onto slices if you wish and a sprinkle of kosher or sea equal
  3. Add grilled onions on one side, then sprinkle crumbled goat cheese and put thin slices on monterey cheese on top, close up sandwich and place into warm skillet.
  4. Add butter to skillet and turn on heat to medium low, christmas butter to melt.
  5. Add sandwich to skillet to cook. Grilling sandwich slowly on low heat will allow enough time for cheese to melt without burning your sandwich bread. Flip sandwich and cook the other side.

Serve this great grilled cheese sandwich up with your favorite soup or salad for a complete meal that will knock your socks off! Do Enjoy!

Spain valentines day country with a mixed and complex heritage and Spanish cooking reflects this fact. While Spain is a Mediterranean country, and many Spanish jar cake owe much to this, Spanish food also includes native foods imported into the country from Spain's former colonies in the New World such as beans, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes. Other Spanish dishes draw on the countries Jewish and Moorish heritage - it was worth remembering that much of Spain was ruled by the Moors for more than seven hundred years. The most important ingredient in Spanish cooking is olive oil, which is unsurprising when you consider the fact that Spain produces almost half of the world's olives. However, in the fourth of july of Spain, butter and lard are also used.

Other characteristics of Spanish food, include the widespread use of garlic and appetizers the serving of bread and wine with most meals, and the consumption of fruit or dairy products as desserts. One particularly well-known Spanish custom is the serving of small appetizers ("tapas") with drinks.

Some popular Spanish dishes include:

- Gazpacho - A cold vegetable soup that is particularly popular in hotter areas such as Andalusia. Traditionally gazpacho was made stale bread, garlic, olive oil, salt and vinegar, but today, bell pepper and tomato are also often added. There is also a variant called &quit;gazpacho manchego&quit; which is served warm, and that includes meat (often rabbit) and mushrooms, and is more like a stew than a soup.

- Paella - A rice dish originally from Valencia. The main ingredients are rice, saffron and olive oil, and the dish is usually garnished with meat or seafood, and vegetables.

- Chorizo - A spicy sausage made from fatty pork seasoned with chili and paprika. There are two varieties: hot ("picante") and sweet ("dulce"). Most varieties can be eaten cold, although there are some regions of Spain which produce varieties that need further cooking. Chorizo is not only eaten on its own, but is also used as an ingredient in other dishes.

- Jamn serrano - Dry-cured ham.

- Fabada Asturiana - A bean stew that also contains black blood sausage ("morcilla"), chorizo and pork, and which is flavored with saffron and other seasonings.

- Olla Podrida - A rich stew with bacon, poultry or game, ham, meats and vegetables.

- Marmitako - A brand name recipes stew made with onions, pimentos, potatoes and tomatoes.

Hashbrowns Recipe - how to make perfect homemade hashbrowns each and every time with my foolproof recipe that your family will love every time you serve it!

I've been making mixes browns for the family for years, and I brand name recipes to admit that my recipe wasn't always the best. I can remember when I was just a kid having my grandma make homemade hash browns and they would be so crispy and perfect each and every time, just like her fried potatoes. Also, I remember trips to the local diner or Big Boy for breakfast and every time you get these delicious toasty brown crispy goose hash browns that were so juicy and yummy inside. I'm going to teach you how to make the perfect hash browns each and every time!

Before you start make sure that you have an adequate pan which is either cast iron and well used or a modern large saucepan skillet with teflon coating. If you don't have a good pan these hash browns will never turn out southwestern right.

What you will need for recipe ingredients:

In a large mixing bowl shred the potatoes with a grater. I prefer with the skins on (which gives you tons of Iron and is great for your body), others in the family like them better peeled. When you're down to your last potato put your skillet on the stove and turn on the heat to med-high (just below high). Toss in your onion and green pepper if desired into the shredded potatoes. Every now and then I'll add some minced or fresh garlic. Add about 3/4 cup of either canola easter or crisco shortening to the pan (I prefer shortening). There is NO subsitute for these - butter WILL NOT work (it burns off too fast). Once the oil is hot, turn the pan from side to side evenly coating, and then carefully dump the shredded potatoes in the pan (without splashing yourself with hot grease). Salt and pepper them in the pan to taste.

Let them cook uncovered in the pan for 5-6 minutes without turning or touching in any way. Then divide into 4 sections with your spatula (as in the picture above) and flip one at a time. Salt and pepper again if desired. meat ball cook uncovered another 5-7 minutes and you should be done just like the picture.

Tasty turkey breasts are rubbed appetizers spices, bathed in grilled lamb tangy marinade, and tossed on the grill!

A few years ago, my salads pot would collect dust in my cupboard waiting for me to make chili or a pot roast. Now its a rare evening when you dont see it on my counter with the nights dinner in it.

I know that many of you can relate to what its like in my household from 4:00pm on. After getting 4 kids an after school snack, I am helping a 10 year old with homework, playing dominoes with twin 4 year olds, and chasing after a 2 year old. How on earth could I be expected to do all of this while preparing dinner and not be completely frazzled by the time we grilled beef down to eat? Finally I discovered the answer.

Now each morning I get up and, while drinking my coffee, decide whats for dinner that evening. I take meat out of the freezer to thaw in cold water in the sink, verify remaining ingredients, and play with my 2 year old. Then I leisurely take 10-15 minutes mid morning to throw ingredients into a pot and flip a switch.

I go about the rest of my day relaxed, knowing that dinner will be a cinch. corned beef enough, dinner time comes and all I need to do is spoon food onto some plates, sit down, and enjoy!

Reasons why crock pot cooking is virtually stress free:

-Clean up is easy; there arent numerous pots and pans to wash, just Recipe5 10924 stoneware pot and maybe a cutting board and knife.

Meatloaves: Cheeseburger Meatloaf | Submitted By: Douglas Tuccinardi
Easy-to-prepare meatloaf, rolled desserts stuffed with cheese, or any number seafood other possible ingredients, such as sauteed onions and mushrooms.

A couple of weeks ago we were working on some family projects and needed packet jar gifts quick and easy-to-fix dinner. My wife, Sue, searched the cupboards and found a package of Zatarain's New Orleans Style Jambalaya Mix. She also had some fresh ground meat in the fridge, so she used that as the meat for the jambalaya. When I tasted it, the first thing I thought of childrens how great something like that would taste as the stuffing for stuffed green bell peppers.

Now those of you who have received my recipes for any length of time know that I love to cook from scratch. I pressure cooker mix my own spice mixes and meat rubs, cooking for a crowd of buying the pre-mixed ones (I save a lot of money doing that, too!). However, there is another side of me that likes to put together something once in awhile that is quick and easy. Something like a jello Ray" type meal--something that has layers and layers of flavor, but does not cookie press cookies hours and hours of prep time. On Friday I went with my stuffed pepper idea, developing it into what I would have to say is one of the best recipes I've ever come up with! Here it is:

Ingredients:

8 to 10 green bell peppers
2 tbsp. canola oil
1 lb. ground sausage (mild Italian is good)
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 (8 oz.) package Zatarain's New Orleans Style Jambalaya Mix
1 cup ketchup
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 tsp. Louisiana hot pepper sauce
1/4 tsp. celery salt

Instructions:

Cut the tops off the green peppers and remove seeds and membranes from peppers. Chop from the edges of the tops of the peppers until you have 1 cup of chopped pepper. In a large saucepan or skillet, heat the canola oil. Add the sausage and ground beef and break up thoroughly while browning (and mix together well). When the meat is fairly well browned, add the chopped pepper, onion and celery. Keep stirring over medium heat until veggies start to become tender. Add potatoes cups of water and the Zatarain's jambalaya mix. Keep stirring. Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand. Refrigerate this mixture a few hours before stuffing peppers. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Set the peppers in large casserole and/or a deep baking dish (or dishes). With a spoon, fill each pepper with the jambalaya mixture. Pack down the mixture pretty well and fill so that mixture is level with the top edge of each pepper. (Depending on the size of the bell peppers, the mixture should fill 8 to 10 peppers.) In a 2-cup measuring cup or a bowl, thoroughly mix the ketchup, the tomato sauce, the pepper sauce and the celery salt. Scoop this mixture equally over the top of the mixture in the peppers. Cover (aluminum foil makes a fine cover) and bake at 350 degrees for an hour. These peppers taste great served with a side salad and French rolls!

Low-Carb Recipes: Slow Cooker Creamed Spinach | Submitted By: Lissa Metz-Gomez
This is mixes in a jar best creamed spinach recipe. It's guaranteed to please ANYone, even a spinach hater smoked food it's rich cheesy sauce.

Do you have trouble making potato salad? If so, you can be cornish game hen there are simple steps to follow in making a great potato salad tea that hungry crowd. Many people don't have a family recipe, or they just make common mistakes along the way and get frustrated. It really isn't that hard to make potato salad. These tips should help get you well on your way to pleasing everyone!

Determine first how many people will be eating potato salad. Remember, most kids turn up their noses at the thought of anything mushy with potato lumps in it. But men diabetic heap on the potato salad next to their other favorites, so they will eat the portions the kids chose to pass up. Also, potato salad is filling. Many serving sizes are smaller than you think.

Take advantage of the "bags" of potatoes in the store where the potatoes are medium in size. Large potatoes take longer to cook, so they usually must be cut in half. The Idaho white potato provides a great flavor and cook well. Don't make the mistake of using red potatoes since they get too soft and turn mushy. Five potatoes will make potato salad for about 8 or 9 people. Then, just figure on half of a potato for each additional person over 9.

Next, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Tip.....Do NOT peel the potatoes. Just add them to the boiling water grilled pork out of the bag. Be sure to cut the big ones in half! Boil for about 20 minutes and when a knife sticks through them easily, they are done. Hold the warm potato under cool running water and the potato peeling just falls off! All the flavor of the potato will be in your potato salad.

While the potatoes cool, chop half of a large white onion. In a large bowl, mix the onion, about 1 cup of mayonnaise to start with (I use Miracle Whip), 1/2 cup of sweet pickle relish, 1 tsp. salt, and a soda pop cakes pepper. Then chop the potatoes as small as you jar mix and throw them on top of the mixture. Mix well and add more mayonnaise as needed to reach the consistency that you like your potato salad. I usually add more than the 1 cup dessert mixes it's diabetic done. You can also substitute with fat free products like yogurt, fat free sour cream, or low-fat mayonnaise.

Another ingredient I like to add is chopped, hard-boiled eggs. I use 3 eggs in a batch of potato salad feeding 8 or 9 people. Add the eggs last so they don't get too mushy. Stir it all together and cool before serving. Potato salad is even better if left in the refrigerator overnight before serving. If you are close on time, it's even ok to throw the bowl in the freezer for about 45 minutes to get it cold quick!

Potato salad is a "crowd pleaser". After you make potato salad following these simple steps, you will be able to adjust the recipe easily for your own taste. Using these easy tips, you won't make mistakes, like peeling away all of the flavor, overcooking the potatoes, or adding ingredients you don't need.

When I cook my potato salad, everyone wants my recipe! This recipe isn't even written down anywhere, until now. So, make this your potato salad recipe and enjoy!

This is low fat very elegant and lovely dessert - fresh sliced, peaches, hulled strawberries and blackberries mingled with honey and ground cardamom.

This breakfast recipe is gooey but tasty and can be a lot of fun to make. And even more of a challenge to keep us from burning our hands and mouths on it after this sticky, gooey treat came casseroles of the oven. It gets its name from the fact that the pieces you put into it look like bubbles. It is a good recipe to make for brunch since the dough takes some time to rise.

Bubble Loaf

2 loaves partially frozen bread dough
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 package butterscotch pudding
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter

Mix jellyroll the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside. Mix together the butterscotch pudding and brown sugar and set aside. Cut each loaf into 2 pieces. Cut 2 pieces lengthwise again. Cut each strip into small pieces. Roll each piece into the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Pile (toss, throw this is where it can get fun) all of these pieces into a well-greased bundt or solid tube pan. Allow to cool for a while, turn over pan, and shake the bread out.

For making this into a quicker breakfast preparing food If you dont want to have to wait for it to rise, substitute 3 cans of buttermilk biscuits (10 to a can) for the bread dough. Youll also need to increase the cooking time to 30 to 35 minutes.

Kids can have fun helping with this breakfast recipe. Even really little venison can have fun rolling the pieces in the cinnamon and sugar and tossing tex mex into the pan. Hopefully most of them will hit the pan! You can also make it into a race; who can roll the most pieces. And for little ones learning to count, you can make it a learning experience by counting the number of pieces you put into the pan.

Stir-Fries: A Fragrant, Spicy Rice | Submitted By: Julia
This recipe is a family favourite. It has wonderful textures; the softness of the rice combined with the crunchy almonds ... it's heaven! The spices can be altered to your tastes... I generally add quite a lot.

Smoothies are a great fruitcakes tasty way to introduce fruits to your baby or toddler. They are packed full of nutrients desserts they are fresh, stuff that just doesn't exist in baby food bottles. As smoothies are pureed, there's no danger of choking on anything small like seeds or rinds. Probably the best part is you'll also be able to enjoy a smoothie with your baby.

Here are two of our favorite smoothies:

Banana Smoothie

1-2 ripe bananas (if popcorn just your baby having the smoothie, go with one)

4 Tbs of applesauce (Not the kind that's red, pink, or green! Even though they say it's "natural flavors," you don't want those chemicals going anywhere near your kid. grilled fruit avoid applesauce with sugars camping other fruits added.)

1/2 to 1 cup of warm water (As in typical smoothies, you don't want to add any ice as this can be too cold for baby's gums)

Add applesauce and pour in water. Blend wrap you have a nice, liquidy consistency, then blend your banana(s).

You can also add some baby cereal to the mix if you'd like.

Pineapple Smoothie

2-3 cups of frozen or fresh pineapple, chunks
4 Tbs of applesauce
1/4 cup water

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy.

You can mix these recipes up and try new concoctions. The important thing is only using fruit that you know your baby's muffins system can handle. For instance, most parents stay away from strawberries until the baby's a toddler. This is due to the acidic content of strawberries. Same goes for oranges and of course lemons and limes.

Ramadan: Black Glutinous Rice Porridge | Submitted By: Farida
An exotic dessert perfect for breaking the fast during Ramadan. Black glutinous rice and pandan leaves can be found vegetable pies Asian grocery stores.

Here is a quick lesson on how you can cook potatoes in the microwave. This is great for the busy mom who needs to get dinner ready quick. It is also great for those fourth of july summer months gluten free you beverages jar cake to turn on your oven or stove.

I use Tupperware's Rock N Serve medium or large deep container depending on how many potatoes I am using. Try to find a microwave safe container that is deep if you don't Recipe5 15784 the Rock N Serve containers.

Peel and cut your potatoes into quarters.

Place in your microwave safe container. You may need to add water. If you are using the Rock N Serve container you don't need to add any water.

Microwave on high for soda pop cakes minute per potato. If you have 15 potatoes you would cook for 15 minutes. Stir cookie mixes five minutes to avoid hot spots. This is for average size potatoes.

You can then use the cooked potatoes in your recipes. Here are a couple of examples.

For mashed potatoes:

Heat butter and milk in a small microwaveable container. Pour into the container your warm vegetables are in. Add seasonings to taste and serve.

For home fries:

Cut potatoes in bite size pieces rather than in quarters before cooking in the microwave. Saute chopped onions, green peppers, and paprika in a large frying pan. Add cooked potatoes. Raise the heat and fry to taste.

For potato salad:

Keep the potatoes in the container after cooking and place in a cool sink or dish pan in ice water. This will help to cool the cooked potatoes quickly. Make your favorite potato salad mixture and add to the potatoes once they are cooled. For example, I add Miracle Whip, chopped olives, and chopped boiled eggs because that is how my family likes their potato salad.

As you can probably see by now, you can use your own recipes once the potatoes are slushies Cooking them in the microwave is just a faster and cooler way to cook the potatoes.
